Whole wheat jaggery peda | Aata aur gud ka peda





Ingredients:

  1. whole wheat flour - 1 1/2 cup 
  2. Jaggery - 200 to 220 gms
  3. water - 120 to 130 ml
  4. ghee - 1 tbsp
  5. cardamom powder - half to 1 tsp
  6. dry fruit for garnishing - 8 almonds or cashews

Method:
  1. Dry roast the flour on low flame and keep stirring. Roast it till it gives nice aroma around 15 mins
  2. Remove from heat allow it to come to room temperature.
  3. In another pan heat jaggery and water, on high flame till mixture comes to boil.
  4. Then reduce to medium flame for 6-8 mins.
  5. Add cardamom powder. mix properly and remove from heat.
  6. Sieve the jaggery syrup before mixing with flour
  7. Now pour half the syrup on the flour and mix with spoon or using hands.
  8. Mix properly and rest of the syrup and mix. Do not knead too much just mix so that dough comes together.
  9. Now add ghee and knead for a few seconds.
  10. Take about one and half tbsp of dough and shape in form of peda.
  11. Garnish with halved cashew or almond.
  12. Let it cool completely and store in airtight container.

Note:
  1. You can shape this in form of laddu or peda
  2. The final colour will mostly depend on the color of the jaggery
  3. Do not make very thick syrup, it should be flowing consistency.
  4. if you do not have cardamom powder, just add 4-5 cardamoms while making syrup as we will sieve the syrup anyways.
  5. You can add a spoon of coco powder just for little flavor and color.
  6. Dont add syrup while its too hot, let it become lukewarm.
  7. Store in refrigerator to increase shelf life.
